Advertising policy

I wanted to survey opinions about advertising on the list. I think it makes sense to prohibit ads which have less to do with the subject matter. The recent ads that were posted have more to do with the subject matter, so I wasn't sure it would be appropriate to deny them to the readership. I'm looking for help in making this decision, so if anyone has an opinion about it, please chime in and let us know what you think.
